It stands for both the visible world outside of us (the circle- whole world) and the invisible one deep inside our minds and bodies (the center). It represents the circular order of the universe. Mandala is the ancient Sanskrit word for circle. Sometimes it takes courage to study the picture in front of me and see the storms and turmoil as well as the peace and beauty that exists at the center. I feel it tells a story, the story of a journey that I can follow. Looking deeply into the circle of this mandala encourages me to look deeply into myself. I came across a picture of a mandala recently and instantly connected to it. These are profound forms of witnesses, universal symbols of wholeness and eternity, inspiring a belief in a “Divine Artist”. įrom the simple snail, trees, flowers, snow flakes, leaves to the Earth we walk on, the sun, moon and stars are all circles. Nature shows us that everything radiates out from a center point.
